Sept. 20-22
Manistee Golf & Country Club
Manistee, Mich.
This new hickory golf outing in Michigan honors Mike Fatke, Manistee Golf and Country Club’s longtime course superintendent. Mike, who passed away in early 2019 at 55, took impeccable care of the course and could often be found late in the day playing the back nine with his hickories. The Mike Fatke Hickory Memorial Matchplay Tournament, Sept. 20-22 (practice round Sept. 20), honors his memory.
Established in 1901 and located on the shores of Lake Michigan the Manistee Golf and Country Club is one of the oldest and most scenic courses in Michigan.
Hickory golfers will enjoy the challenges of the traditional layout, which encompasses both links and parkland characteristics.
The format is matchplay with two-person teams who will play their best ball. Play will be with handicaps. (Modern club handicaps will be adjusted.) Teams will play five 9-hole matches – three on Saturday and two on Sunday. Each match will be worth 10 points. One for each hole won and one for the match. The overall winner will be determined by the team accumulating the most points. In case of a tie, a chip off will determine the winner. Social events include a picnic Friday evening and casual dinner Saturday. Lunch will be served between rounds on Saturday. Lunch and awards after the tournament on Sunday.
Cost is $125 per player, $250 per team. The fee for guests for social events only is $20 each. Register individually or as a team. Individual registrants will be teamed up. Click here for a registration form. Contact Fred Niles for information at fniles1@mac.com.
