The Vermont Hickory Golf Association is pleased to announce that this year’s Vermont Hickory Open will be a two-day medal (stroke) play event featuring four divisions: the Open division (any age or gender); the Senior division (60 years of age or older); the Statesman division (70 years of age or older); and a Women’s division. There must be at least four competitors registered in a division for there to be a winner within that division. Both low gross and low net in each division will be acknowledged.
VENUE: Pursue your passion for hickory golf at The Golf Club at Equinox, located in beautiful Manchester Village, Vt. This scenic 1927 Walter Travis design will test a player’s ability to hit a variety of shots to well-manicured, undulating greens. Enjoy the crisp air and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains at this par 71, 6,423-yard Vermont gem of a course (6,069 for Open division, 5,450 for the seniors, and 5,082 for the Statesmen and ladies). DATES: The VHO will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14 and Sunday, Aug. 15. Practice rounds are not included in the registration fee; those who wish to play a practice may make arrangements directly with the pro shop At 802-362-7870.
SCHEDULE OF PLAY: Saturday Tee times will start at 10 a.m. There will be hors d’oeuvres served after play each afternoon. Table space will available after play Saturday for club swap, trade, buy or sell. Play each day will begin with assigned tee times; awards will follow play on Sunday.
RULES OF PLAY: The Society of Hickory Golf rules will apply. (Look for guidelines under the tournament tab of this website.) Play must be with hickory shafted golf clubs manufactured before 1935 or Society of Hickory Golf approved reproductions. There is no limit to the number of clubs allowed in your bag. Cell phones and / or distance measuring devices are not permitted during tournament play. Local rules will be announced before start of play.
REGISTRATION FEE: The registration fee is $275. The fee includes two rounds of play, hors d’oeuvres after play on Saturday and on Sunday, and space for a club swap. Practice rounds and cart rental are not are not included in this fee. Practice rounds may be scheduled directly through the clubhouse.
N.B. Vermont Hickory Open space is limited; registrations will be accepted on a “first come, first served” basis. A limited number of rooms within the Equinox Hotel are available at a block rate. You must reference the Vermont Hickory Open Courtesy Room Block when calling. Reservations are to be made directly with the hotel by calling Marriott central reservations 888 236 2427. There is a Hampton Inn & Suites in Manchester. There are more motels, inns and bed & breakfast accommodations.
