The 2020 Onion This great hickory event at the Onion Creek Club has become one of the legends on the national hickory golf tour. Players from across the nation and Canada – sometimes even farther abroad – travel to Austin to compete for prizes and enjoy the best that hickory golf has to offer. Event organizer and host Pete League, a classic in his own right, has taken great pains to ensure that all players have a great time and that there is a strong charitable component. Monies raised benefits Mobile Loaves and Fishes, a local group that works to provide housing for the homeless.
In 2020 the tournament will feature a hickory competition between several First Tee chapters. A special trophy is being donated and “Da Pro” himself, Rives McBee, is planning to work with the kids and provide some hickory putters.
Here’s the schedule:
Thursday, March 26 – Swift Trophy Matches. USA vs. CANADA. A great time with a Ryder-Cup style competition.
Friday, March 27 – Inaugural Texas First Tee Hickory Championship
March 27-28 – 36-hole medal-play Onion Creek Hickory Classic
