As all of us know we are in “unprecedented times” and how often have we heard that word used in the last four months. The result is difficult times for most of us and charities are no exception. Many charities have been very hard hit because the many events they use to raise money have been canceled or altered significantly. Evans Scholars is no exception. The Evans Scholars’ largest event in Michigan, The Evans Classic, has been canceled this year. We are still planning to have the 23rd annual Hickory Stick Invitational to benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation. How the event is actually run will be altered to comply with social distancing guidelines, but run it we will.
We want to have fun and raise money for The Evans Scholars Foundation – “Changing the Course of a Lifetime…one Caddie at a time.” The Foundation provides Caddies with renewable four year scholarships for tuition and housing. The average Scholarship, for four years, is worth about $120,000. There are currently 1,010 Evans Scholars in school and over 11,050 Evans Alumni. The Hickory Stick Invitational has raised over $626,000 in the last 22 years.

Invitations will be sent out in early August. We do not have everyone’s mailing address so you do not need an invitation to play. Applications to play are on the website and attached (above). If you do not have a fivesome, we will pair you up. Bring your friends. As we said, you do not need an invitation to attend.
We have plenty of hickory sets available for use, should you not have your own.
