The Swedish Society of Golf Historians welcomes you to the 21st Swedish Hickory Golf Championship at Båstad Golf Club.
Båstad Golf Club was founded in 1930, initiated by Ludvig Nobel (a nephew of the famous Alfred Nobel). The 18-hole parkland course, designed by the British golf course architects Hawtree & Taylor, was opened in April 1930 and is thereby the second oldest 18-hole course in Sweden. This truly classic golf course, known as the Old Course, will be the venue for this year’s Swedish Hickory Championship.
The Swedish Hickory Golf Championship will be played in three classes:
• Gentlemen, 36-hole stroke play (18+18 holes), scratch. Cut: top 50 players
• Ladies, 36-hole stroke play (18+18 holes), scratch. Cut: top 6-9 players
• Seniors (65+), 18-hole stroke play, scratch
There will also be an 18-hole handicap competition, the Swedish Hickory Jug, on Sunday, Aug. 5.
To sign up for the competitions please send an email with all your contact information, by 21 July at the latest, to kansli@bgk.se. There is an entrance fee of SEK 100 for the Championship. Membership in a recognized golf historical society is a requirement. The fee for The Swedish Hickory Jug is also SEK 100. Båstad Golf Club offers a discounted greenfee rate of SEK 300/day (including a practice day).
The traditional Championship Dinner will be held in the club house on Aug. 4 at 19:00 hrs (7 p.m.). If you wish to attend, please sign up for the dinner when you sign up for the competition. Price per ticket: SEK 450, covering a welcome drink, a three-course meal and coffee (but no further beverages). Alternatively, a limited number of dinner tickets will be available for purchase 4 August at a price of SEK 495.
Båstad Golf Club is easily accessible from Copenhagen Airport, approx. 1 1/2 hour by car (150 km). Take motorway E6 to Malmö (via the Öresund bridge) and then continue north on E6 until junction 39 (Båstad). Drive through the small town centre of Båstad and follow the signs for Torekov. After a few kilometers you will see the road sign for ”Båstad Golfklubb”, turn left. Make sure to secure any hotel booking well in advance. We cooperate with the hotels listed below.
