Jeff Shelley has been writing about golf for more than three decades. Hickory golf was bound to make an appearance somewhere along the line. Shelley recently posted an account of the modern hickory game in the September 2021 edition of Golf Course Trades magazine. In the writing of the article, Shelley talked with hickory golfers from around the country, from the high handicappers to PGA professionals. It’s one of the better pieces written on the game, as he viewed the sport with respect, and its many adherents with an honest regard for their passion and enjoyment of the game.
