New England’s hickory maestro Bill ‘Wardy’ Wardwell came out tops for the 2022 Alexander Findlay / Massachusetts Hickory Open. The event, the 6th annual, held on May 13 at the Country Club of Greenfield, attracted 31 participants.

As usual, the event was organized and handled beautifully by our PGA professional Kevin Piecuch and his assistant Josh Cook. Lunch was offered at our award winning Terrazza Restaurant and the course was in tip-top shape thanks to our greens keeper Chris Reed and his staff.
One change to our format has proven popular – rather than sending out invitations and requiring players to respond with advanced payment, including meal commitments, we recommend they make a call to Kevin who will sign them up. That way, they can order a meal from the menu and don’t have to eat if they need to scoot after the event; this really simplifies the event organizing. Might work for other tournament directors, too.
One bit of news – event host Bill Conant is stepping down and handing the reigns to Wardwell who is already at work organizing the 2023 outing. Best of luck to Bill whom we will still see at various hickory outings in the New England area.
