The 18th hole at Miami Valley Golf Club, home of the 2015 U.S. Hickory Open
The U.S. Hickory Open registration is up and running, says Ed Ronco, chair of the USHO committee. The registration is available by visiting the USHO tournament page on this website. Deadline for USHO registrations is June 27.
“We’re pleased to have almost everything in place for the tournament,” Ronco said. “There are always a few last minute things to work on, but the registration is ready, so don’t delay in signing up.”
The chosen golf venue, Miami Valley Golf Club in Dayton, Ohio, is another in the long love affair between USHO committees and Donald Ross. This one dates to 1921 and has hosted a Western Open and the 1957 PGA, the last one of these held at match play.
SoHG President Hamp Munsey and others who have visited the facility say the course is in great condition, the members are excited about the event, and the facilities look like a good fit for dinners and the trade show.
Register online and with credit card
Jim Clawson, SoHG treasurer, recommends that online registrations via the SoHG website are the easiest and best way to go, especially for record keeping. He should know. Clawson is charged with managing all the incoming registrations. He suggests paying via credit card to keep everything simple and straightforward. If you can help Jim out, please register online and use your credit card.
USHO Program advertisements
In a first for the USHO, advertisements are being accepted for the program booklet. These begin with business card-sized ads for $50 and go up to full page ads. All proceeds go to the SoHG (after print costs). If you are interested in supporting the USHO and the SoHG in this way, please email Jim Davis for ad rates and information. Deadline for such ads is June 20.
Official USHO website
The official USHO website, www.ushickoryopen.org, has more information about the event, including the schedule, host hotel, and other details. Don’t forget to visit this site for the latest information. A few last minute details mean that this site will be updated over the next several weeks, so check back often.
