Sixth annual Wyandotte Hickory Open escapes harsh weather

The Wyandotte Hickory Organization held its sixth annual WHO Open Tournament on Oct. 1, 2016.

The weather looked a little bleak that day as it rained right up to tee times.  The golf gods smiled on the Wyandotte Shores G.C. when the sun came and stayed until the last putt was holed.

This year’s open champion Bill Tucholski shot 79 to win over Bill Ellington’s 82.  John Cova won the Senior Division shooting 84 and to runner-up Joe Cerra’s 88. Max Hollon’s 87 won the Statesman Division and Lloyd Slinglend 96 slipped in for second.

Congrats to Kris Ellington for winning the Ladies Division and kudos to Clare Gutowski runner-up.

Lunch, awards and prizes followed the tournament at Captain Pub and Restaurant.  As soon as all were safely inside for lunch the rain let loose.  It’s good to be on the good side of Mother Nature.
