Results of the 2017 Interstate Hickory Tournament

Nov. 2-4, 2017
Old Kinderhook, Mo.

Once again, the Weather Gods smiled down on our Assembly, and provided cool, but dry, conditions for our annual Event. Sadly, two of our regular stalwarts, Russ Fisher and Bryant “Murph” Murphy, were unable to attend, with Russ’s clubmaking and repair services being sorely missed; and the lack of their extensive wares reduced the offerings at the trading tables during the Friday and Saturday dinners.

By way of compensation, we welcomed several new Players this year –  Linda Baker and Barb Morris in the Ladies and Couples Divisions; Gary Proctor; John McKenzie; Nathan Rosheim; Tim Carpenter; Gary Krumpkin; Mike Needleman, and Paul Jensen.

We also enjoyed the company at dinner of Caroline & Stacey Gay; Lorretta Carpenter and daughter Tori; Judy Taylor; and Roxanne Krumpkin, all of whom enjoyed the non-golfing attractions of the Lake area.

As always, Fred and Sherry Smeltzer provided a wonderful venue and reception on the Thursday evening, following the 9-hole Couples Event and practice rounds with good food and copious bottles of single malt Scotch, much enjoyed by all. Fred also made replica long nose hickory putters as prizes for the Division Winners, and Sherry made Old Kinderhook embroidered towels and caps for runners up.

Special thanks, also, to “Knicker Dog” Scott Pilgrim for the splendid range of sartorial knickers; socks, and other apparel available at the Trade Show, and for the generous donation of a $50 gift voucher, which was awarded to our new hickory Player, Tim Carpenter.
