Results of 2017 Southern Hickory 4-Ball Championship

It’s been a crazy year for weather, but the 2017 Southern Hickory 4-Ball Championship — held April 20-22 in Birmingham, AL — was blessed with blue skies, a Highland Park golf course in beautiful condition, and the best golfers and competition anywhere. Host Tad Moore was busy with tournament details but was pleased that all participants and guests seemed to enjoy a truly wonderful outing.

As for the competition, it was tight. Ted Kopec and Peter Flory took top honors in a close playoff with the second place team of Bain Hanning and Cliff Martin.

Joe Hollerbach and Mike Harding were low net winners, followed by Bill Geisler and Rick Rechter.

Senior Division winners were Otey Crisman III and Bill Sewell.

Low net Seniors were Ed Ronco and Jim Clawson. Hamp Munsey and Chris Deinlein were in second.

“If you did not play,” says Tad, “you missed out on a great event.”

Maybe next year. Tad is planning for another Southern 4-Ball in April 2018. Details here when available.
