Proposals sought for 2022 USHO site selection

The U.S. Hickory Open Selection Committee is accepting applications for the 2022 U.S. Hickory to be held in the East Region. Proposals must be received by April 1, 2020.

Questions about this event or the proposal process can be forwarded to Bill “Ernie” Ernst at Bernst@new.rr.com.  The selection Committee will help guide any interested groups through the process of proposing a location.

The SoHG attempts to move the U.S. Hickory Open around the different geographical regions of the U.S. on a four-year rotation which began in the East region in 2018. The idea is to promote hickory golf and the benefits of the Society of Hickory Golfers throughout the U.S. and to ensure that regional hickory play groups in all areas of the country have an opportunity to host the USHO.

East – East Coast to the Appalachian Mountains
Midwest – east of the Mississippi River to the Appalachian Mountains
Heartland – west of the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains
West – west of the Rockies

The goal is to select and announce, two years in advance, the date and location of the U.S. Hickory Open for that year in the targeted region. Thus, on Jan. 1 of each year the USHO Section Committee solicits proposals from the target region for two years out.

Deadline to receive applications is April 1. On May 1 the committee will make final recommendations to the SoHG board.

If no proposals from a targeted region are received by the committee by April 1, the application to host the USHO will be opened to all four regions.

Our target date to vote on and announce the regional proposal for 2022 is Sept. 1.
