NWHP celebrates World Hickory Golf with day at Meadow Park

The Northwest Hickory Players welcome 42 players for their 2026  World Hickory Golf Day celebration on May 10.  Meadow Park Golf Course (1915, John Ball) was the site for the 14th Vintage Classic on a bright sunny Pacific Northwest spring day. The day started with the usual cool temps and a bit damp, but turned to sunshine and temps in the 60s.  Perfect day to celebrate our hickory golf world.  Meadow Park has been our host for all 14 Vintage Classics.

Trees that were planted when Meadow Park was actually a meadow now tower over a hundred feet tall, making it a tree-lined parkland  course.  No cutting the corner any more.
This year’s overall champion is Gerry Cassel with score of 80.  The Women’s champ was Kathleen Turner. The Senior men were led by Jimmy Bucher and the Super Senior men’s champ was Kit Ledbetter.
One of the highlights beside the weather and greeting many longtime friends was the record number of women – nine – the most ever at a NWHP event!
