NWHP celebrates World Hickory Day with Vintage Hickory Classic

Rob Ahlschwede reports:

The Northwest Hickory Players celebrated World Hickory Golf Day early at Meadow Park Golf Course (c. 1915) with the 11th playing of the Vintage Hickory Classic. Seven new hickory players were part of the 42 players who signed up to celebrate the day.

One of the highlights was having 18 players in the Open Division – players under 60 years of age – meaning that NWHP is happily bringing more younger players to hickory golf and more players carrying a low handicap as well.

Medals were awarded in four divisions, both gross and net scoring. The low score of the day, meaning he is our newest Vintage Champion, was turned in by Adam Columbia, who shot 76.  Well played, Adam!!

The Women’s Division was won by Kathleen Turner; the Senior winner was John Quickstad with a score of 80; and the Super Senior champ was Steve Franich who shot a clean 85.

It was great to greet so many new hickory players and to renew friendships with others we have known in hickory for years.
