Membership Renewals

Dec. 7, 2017
As a majority of our memberships come up for renewal on Jan. 1, here’s a reminder on how all that works…

When the new/current website came online in July 2016, membership renewal began to be tied to the member’s join date. Whenever that anniversary comes around, the website pops up a little button that tells you it is time to renew. The catch, of course, is that you must log in to the website to see that reminder. I believe that reminder stays up for nearly a year before the system tosses you into the Expired Membership category.

For the majority of members, who were in the system long before the new website came up, the anniversary is Jan. 1 of each year. All those members simply kept that renewal anniversary date.

So, for all of you who were members before July 2016, log on to the website at some point Jan. 1 or later and you’ll see the reminder button. Click there and all should go swimmingly. Should you encounter any rough currents in the process, just let me know and we’ll get you back into smooth waters.

Your SoHG Board is busy trying to figure out a reasonable system for extended memberships, too, so that we might sign up or renew for five-year memberships, for example. That should make things a bit easier. We hope to get this going early in 2018. Many thanks to Andy Moye who is working hard on this.

All the best for a safe and happy holiday season!  – Jim Davis
