Heavy mist doesn’t dampen 2019 Jersey Shore

Oct. 30, 2019

Bill Martin reports:

A bit of attrition limited our rain date field at “The Jersey Shore” held on a typically Irish day at Spring Lake GC. Play began in a heavy mist and built into a dense two-club sea level Atlantic breeze. Scoring remained remarkedly excellent considering the weather and recently aerated greens.

Ray Raccuglia from nearby Jackson posted a fine gross 79. Hi son, Jonathan, a seventh grader, was runner-up with an 84. An 85, 86, and 87 were also posted on this damp and wild fall day. Young Jonathan displayed an astute game and we expect great things in the near future.

Bill Martin from the home club won the Reserve division with a net 67. Jon Byron from New York City followed with a 71.

Thus ends another successful season for the Metropolitan Hickory Society. We will be meeting over the winter months to plan out our 2020 season and we hope to attend a new venue or two during the upcoming campaign.

Best wishes over the Holiday Season to all,
Bill
