Frank Flood wins Jersey Shore outing of MHS

Participants in the Metropolitan Hickory Society’s Jersey Shore outing had a beautiful day to golf on Oct. 19.

Frank Flood of Connecticut took home the Open Division Championship with a sweet 80 at the wonderful Spring Lake Golf Club in Spring Lake, N.J. Jon Byron shot a fine 83 to take home the Runner-Up Medal in the Open Division.

In the Reserve Division, Bill Martin took the Champion honors, Asher Fried was the Runner-Up.

Many thanks to Bill Martin who arranged the event. Spring Lake has quickly become a favored venue for the MHS. A mile from the ocean, this wonderful George Thomas/AW Tillinghast course finished in 1918 and recently restored by Tripp Davis, is a hidden gem on the Jersey Shore.

The day was punctuated by a great outdoor BBQ and a panel discussion on how the three major U.S. golf magazines rank the Top 100 courses.

The MHS has now concluded its 5th season. We are looking forward to an exciting 6th year in 2017 as we intend to step up our game from this point forward. Stay tuned for more information during the winter.
