Florida Hickory Golfers end season on a high note

In a season plagued with cancellations and other challenges, the Florida Hickory Golfers managed to persevere and hold a number of events. FHG’s Captain Mike Stevens sent the following note and photos of the regional group’s season-ending tournament at Mount Dora Golf Club in Mount Dora, Fla.

The Florida Hickory Golfers wrapped up 2020 with our annual championships at the Mount Dora Golf Club. The weather was outstanding and the course was in great shape. Congratulations to Will Peterson who has much of his game back after significant battle with health issues. Will’s 64 points edged out defending champion Mike Stevens by 2 points for the Stevens Trophy. On the Quota side, Earl Hines steady play resulted in Plus 16 overall and he takes home the Heritage Trophy.

It has been a great year for hickory golf in Florida with several events and a new partnership with the Florida State Golf Association. We look forward to more events with them in 2021. As we close out this interesting year, I would like to extend my sincerest wishes to everyone and their families for a Merry and Blessed Christmas.
