Mike Stevens reports:

The Florida Hickory Golfers concluded another successful season with our annual championships at Mount Dora Country Club on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 11, 12. Players were seeded based on their performance throughout the year and as expected, top seed Will Peterson coasted to a victory and retains the Stevens Trophy for another year. As to the Heritage Trophy, Natalie Wells and Mike Stevens tied at plus 12 and in a chivalrous gesture, your FHG leader bequeathed the trophy to Natalie for safe keeping for the year.

I would like to thank all the FHG members who participated throughout the year and those who came for the weekend. It is always a festive time with Mount Dora decorated for Christmas and the golf course is a great venue for hickory play. Special shout out to new member Carlos De Barros who, playing only for the second time, finished at plus 7 and is now hooked on our traditional game.

A special thanks goes to the Florida State Golf Association for their support of hickory golf and hosting a Florida State Hickory Championship. We look forward to another great year of one day events with them and the State Hickory Championship in May at Bradenton Country Club.
