Darwin and Behr on the golf ball

The Autumn Wee Nip offered a discussion of modern balls available for play in modern events that employ pre-1900 equipment. There was much discussion even back in the day about the ball, the new rubber core, the smaller hard ball and the “floater.” For additional reading, we heartily recommend you log-in to your member’s dashboard and check out the two articles by Bernard Darwin and Max Behr, both on the subject of balls in use during that earlier period. It seems players then were just as anguished as many today. Somehow, golf survived.
