Advance notice for special Danish Open championship

Christian Juel, president of the Danish Golf Historical Society, reports that the group has been offered a unique opportunity to play at one of the country’s most historical courses, the Elsinore Golf Club. The offer is for 2027, but Christian wishes all hickory golfers to have an advance notice. His message follows:

Dear friends, dear participants in this year’s tournament,

I know this is VERY early; however, we have been asked by Elsinore Golfclub to participate in their 100-year-celebrations next year and in that connection, we will play the 2027 Open Danish Hickory Championship in Elsinore. The planned date is May 8, 2027.

The club was founded in 1927. The course is a scenic parkland design on the site of a former Royal Danish Army drill ground belonging to the officer’s academy at Kronborg Castle.

Elsinore (Helsingor) is popularly known as the location of  “Hamlets Castle.”  It is a town situated about 50 km north of Copenhagen and is easily accessed via train from Copenhagen airport, via Copenhagen Central Station, or by car from the airport.

All our Swedish friends know, of course, that it is directly on the other side of the Oresund Strait between Denmark and Sweden – a 20 minute ferry ride from Helsingborg.

This advance notice is partly to ask your help in advising me of your interest in the following program, which is a slight departure from our customary itinerary. Please see below:

The 2027 Open Danish Hickory Championship – Elsinore Golf Club, May 8
10-11 a.m. – Brunch
11 a.m. –  1 p.m. – Tee off
7 p.m. –1927-style dinner party at the clubhouse, dinner jackets and black tie, ladies dress in 1927 style.

Such an arrangement will probably have a price around DKK 1.500 ( 200 EUR).

The clubhouse dining facility can comfortably accommodate about 40+ people. The club will also invite some guests – but there will be space for all players. Alternatively, we will stick to a simpler program with no evening arrangement.

I would be much obliged if you could give me a feed back within some weeks.
Thank you all. We hope that many will consider to visit Denmark and Elsinore next year.
