70 players from nine states gathered for 11th Columbia Cup

The 2025 Columbia Cup hosted 70 players from nine different states over July 11-13. This, our 11th annual event, was played on the Gearhart Golf Links along the Oregon Coast—recently named the 5th best “true links course in the USA” by Golf Digest.

Perfect weather—marine layer in the morning breaking to sunshine and breezes in the afternoon. The greens were rolling smooth and fast (stimped at 12 in the morning) and the roar of the waves rushing to the shore in the background.

After the two days of play, Joe Johnson of Bend, Ore., held the coveted trophy as the 2025 Columbia Cup Champion. Well played Joe! Second in the Open Division was Brent Hudkins and third was Arizona’s Matt Stovall. Net winner in the Open was Tim Cooley of Omaha, Neb.  Second was Shawn Baker from Oregon and in third place was Marshall Huston of Seattle.

Ladies Division—Champion-Sue Tracey, Second Paula Anderson and Third Celia Fitzgerald.  Net First Sandy Bucher, Second Emma Guenette, and Third Roberta Robbins.

Senior Champion—Rick Pruneau, Second Richard Young, and Third David Park.  Net First Dave Britt, Second Eddie Johnson, and Third Jim Bucher.

Super Senior Champion—Lyle Rowland, Second John Henry Williams, and Third Ed Horvat.  Net winner Craig Healy, Second Bruce Wray, and Third Rick Lehman.

The Over-80 Champion was Tad Moore.

With players from North Carolina, Alabama, Nebraska and the Western states it was a great gathering of hickory players. The trade show saw a lot of activity and sharing of information.

Next year’s Columbia Cup will again be played mid-July at Gearhart Golf Links. See you there!
