40th Heart of America

July 21-23
Bright-Grandview Golf Course
Des Moines, Iowa

The Heart of America Hickory championship is the oldest continuously held hickory tournament in the world. Originated in 1978 by GCS President and Iowa resident Warren “Ole” Olsen. The players in this long-standing tournament are a literal “who’s who” in the playing of modern hickory golf and traditions. The Grandview course is a 1902 Tom Bendelow design.

Past years have included a practice round on Friday followed by an evening reception. Saturday is the first day of competition followed by a reception and dinner at the Grandview Clubhouse. This evening has generally included free trade tables “for tradin’, braggin’, sellin’, and just showin’ off. Sunday is the second day of competition with awards luncheon afterward.
