2022 Vermont Hickory Open

The Vermont Hickory Golf Association is pleased to announce that this year’s Vermont Hickory Open will be a two-day medal (stroke) play event featuring four divisions: the Open division (any age or gender), the Senior division, (60 years of age or older), the Statesmen division (70 years of age or older), and a Women’s division. Both low gross and low net in each division will be acknowledged. A division must have a minimum of four competitors for the low gross winner’s name to be engraved on the Vermont VHO trophy.

VENUE: Pursue you passion for hickory golf at the Brattleboro Country Club, in Brattleboro, Vt. The course is a mix of the original golf course design in 1914 by Tom McNamara, a three time U.S. Open runner up which was redesigned in 1930 by Wayne Stiles, and an expansion, with some re-routing of play, in 2000 by Steve Durkee.

Green fees are included in the registration but carts are not; carts will be available for those who wish to ride at an event fee of $19 plus tax for 18 holes. Practice rounds are not included in the registration fee but the Brattleboro Country Club will charge greens fee of $25 for one practice round and will provide a cart at the event fee of $19 plus tax . SCHEDULE OF PLAY: Play will be by tee times; the first tee time is expected to be at 10 a.m. each day. There is a restaurant with both inside and outside seating where we may gather for refreshments after play each day. Individuals are responsible for ordering and payment of any beverages and food desired. We expect to have table space available after play each day for club swap, trade buy or sell.

RULES OF PLAY: The Society of Hickory Golfers rules will apply. Check this website under Tournaments for Guidelines. Play must be with a hickory shafted clubs manufactured before Dec. 31, 1934 or with SoHG-approved reproductions. There is no limit to the number of clubs allowed in your bag. Cell phone GPS and/or other distance measuring devices are not permitted during tournament play. Local rules will be made available before start of play.

As indicated above, golf carts and practice rounds are not included in the fee but can be arranged directly with the pro shop at the event fee on $25 for one practice round and a cart for $19 plus tax for each 18 holes of play.
