2022 Swiss Hickory Open

July 29-30
Montreux Golf Club
Aigle, Switzerland

The Swiss Hickory Open will be competed for the first time in the ‘Suisse Romande,’ or French-speaking section of the country, 29-30 July, at the Montreux Golf Club in Aigle. The Swiss Hickory Open attracts players from the German, Italian and French sections of the country.

Nestled at the foot of the Alps near the shore of Lake Geneva, the golf course enjoys an unusually mild microclimate that enables it to remain open year-round. Built in 1900, Montreux is the second-oldest golf club in Switzerland (which has about 100 total courses).

In addition to the two-day men’s and women’s open divisions, the SHO will feature one-day team Scramble and individual Stableford events designed to attract casual and first-time hickory players from the region.

In 2021, at Golf Club Limpachtal in Buchegg, Carmen Sagarra, playing from the Hittnau Golf & Country Club in eastern Switzerland, won the women’s division, and PGA teaching professional Paolo Quirici from Golf Club Lugano in the southern Ticino region won the men’s open division. Quirici played on the European PGA Tours from 1989 to 2001, then won the U.S. Professional Hickory Championships in 2013 and 2014 and the World Hickory Championship in Scotland in 2013.
