2022 Sacramento Hickory

April 9-10
Haggin Oaks GC
Sacramento, Calif.

You are invited to a first-year hickory golf tournament of 36 holes, played over two days on two separate, but co-located courses at Haggin Oaks. Saturday’s round will be played on the Arcade Creek Course (first tee time 11:30 a.m.) and Sunday’s round will be on the Alister MacKenzie Course (first tee time at 9:33 a.m.).

Alister MacKenzie designed the MacKenzie course (also Augusta National, Cypress Point, and Pasatiempo, among others). It was opened for play in 1932, and has hosted many professional and amateur golf tournaments. Professionals Sam Snead, Jimmy Demaret, Toney Penna, Walter Hagen, Al Geiberger, George Archer, and Gene Sarazen (3rd place for $75 in 1935) all competed here. Ben Hogan won his first professional check here in 1938 at the Sacramento Open (3rd place for $350).

The Arcade Creek course was opened for play in 1957 and, like the MacKenzie course, is framed by 100+ year-old Oak trees throughout. There are no encroaching houses nor buildings except the facility buildings located in the center between the two courses.

Also, on each course there are no out-of-bounds that come into play.

There will be 4 divisions: Open, Senior, Statesmen, and Ladies. A nonrefundable event fee of $35 includes expenses for a Saturday box lunch, awards at the completion of the tournament, and reserves your place in the limited field. You aren’t in the field until your entry fee is received. No exceptions.
