The first event in the scheduling of the new SoHG Order of Merit, the Mid Pines Hickory Open in Southern Pines, N.C. provides a great setting on one of Donald Ross’ classic gems. Often hosting as many as 100 players, including international visitors, the tournament features a foursomes competition at neighboring Pine Needles on the Friday of the event. Practice rounds are available all day Friday at Mid Pines. Trade show on Saturday at Mid Pines. The golfing center of Pinehurst is nearby as is the Tufts Archives, a repository of Donald Ross history. The 2021 Mid Pines Hickory Open will begin the 2021-22 SoHG Order of Merit season that will end with the 2022 USHO.
