2019 Vietnam Veterans of America Hickory Invitational

Jan. 5, 2019
Vietnam Veterans of America Hickory Invitational
Cedar Crest Golf Club, Dallas, Texas

An invite from Scott Pilgrim:

I hope everyone has returned safely from the U.S. Hickory Open, Mid Pines, and Old Kinderhook tournaments, and had a wonderful time. As most of you know, our Texas hickory event is fast approaching. It had been rescheduled from early December due to poor weather conditions. The 1st annual Vietnam Veterans of America Hickory Invitational is planned as a two-person scramble with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at the Cedar Crest Golf Club. The course was designed by A.W. Tillinghast and hosted the 1926 Dallas Open, won by MacDonald Smith, and the 1927 PGA Championship, won by Walter Hagen.
The “Invitational” aspect of the event is for each hickory player to invite a non-hickory player as his or her partner (encouraged but not required), to share their clubs and all aspects of the hickory game in a fun scramble format. Dinner, awards, and a silent auction will be held following play. Donated/contributed auction items may be brought to the tournament. Proceeds will benefit the Dallas Chapter 137 of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
This tournament will be a very heart warming event, with veterans on hand to enjoy the festivities and express their sincere gratitude for YOUR support. The chapter president, Van Gilmore, will be our speaker during the meal.  A great tournament for a great cause! And to share the “hickory love” with one of your friends or family.
WE MUST give Cedar Crest a player count a week in advance, so please register as soon as possible. We must have your paid registration no later than Dec. 28.
This will be another wonderful Texas hickory event.  Invite a friend and don’t miss it. The VVA needs our support!
