The Squire – Pelham CC with the Metropolitan Hickory Society

Early registration is strong for the second annual Squire tournament of the Metropolitan Hickory Society, but there are still spots available.
Located in Pelham Manor, New York, this Devereux Emmet-designed course famously played host to the 1923 PGA Championship in which Gene ‘The Squire’ Sarazen defeated Walter Hagen. Four-time major champion James ‘Long Jim’ Barnes also served as its head golf professional for three years in the early 1920s. Check out the YouTube link below for a recap of the match presented by the PGA of America. There is also an article detailing the history of Pelham CC that was recently published in the summer edition of “The Golf” magazine that you’ll find in our MHS Google drive.
