Oak Gables Guttyfest #1

This pre-1900 gutty golf event is presented by the Golf Historical Society of Canada and hosted by member Russell Dick on his home course, the Oak Gables Golf & Country Club, in Ancaster, Ontario. It is the first of two such gutty outings, the later one in October. The course is in the Hamilton Region, which is at the western end of Lake Ontario. Oak Gables has three nines, hilly, with small elusive greens. “It’s definitely a positioning course and perfect for hickory, plus from the grill they do Hickory Burgers, fries (the best in the world) and a draught for $16.50,” Russell says. “If you mention my name and ‘hickory’ you get VIP reduced green fees.”
