Minnesota club to celebrate centennial with hickory event
The Minnesota golf club, Pine Beach East, in Brainerd, Minn., is celebrating its centennial this year with a hickory golf event on Aug. 14-17. The club is inviting both public and hickory golfers to participate in the event.
The centennial weekend will invite golfers and the public to experience the game as it was played a century ago, with hickory-club events, vintage golf balls, a golf-history clinic and 1920s-inspired experiences.
It has already arranged with Chris McIntyre for a supply of rental clubs. The club is associated with Maddens on Gull Lake, a historic, family-owned 1,000-acre lakeside resort located on a scenic peninsula in Brainerd, Minn., featuring 63 holes of golf, multiple sand beaches, and six restaurants.
