2026 Sunflower Hickory Match-Play
The 2026 SUNFLOWER Hickory Match-Play event is scheduled for April 25 at the St. Andrews Golf Course in Overland Park, Kan.
The Sunflower, marking its 6th annual playing, is hosted by Mike Needleman who says that 2026 is the first year playing at St. Andrews in Overland Park.
“The original course built in 1920 was designed by John Nash; it was redesigned in 2006 by Craig Schreiner, president of Schreiner Golf Inc,” Needleman says. “He is associated as architect and design of many new courses and renovations throughout the U.S.; many of which are in and around Kansas City. Despite the 2006 renovation, the St. Andrews Course maintains a true “hickory feel” with its tree lined fairways and undulating greens. It is also the most popular public play course in the Kansas City metro.”
Moving away from a long familiar venue is not easy, Needleman says. “Having had to make the decision to move away from Falcon Lakes Course due to rising costs was bittersweet. Falcon Lakes has treated us well over the past five years. However, I am extremely pleased to have secured a quality course such as St. Andrews .
Doing so allows me to get our play under $100 per person ($99), which was my goal. I think everyone will truly enjoy this new location.
Mike is on top of his game when it comes to hosting this event, one of the most popular hickory events in the Midwest.
