2026 Florida Hickory Open
The Florida Hickory Open, as far as we are aware, is the only state hickory open hosted and organized by a state golf association. Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in this event to help popularize the fun of playing with hickories.
The course is the Dubsdread Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. The two-day event starts with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun on Monday, May 18, with lunch following play. The second day of play also begins with a shotgun at 8:30 a.m. with awards and lunch following play.
The cost is $260 per player, which includes tee gift, two rounds of golf, two lunches, and gift certificates for top finishers.
Dubsdread GC is one of the best run municipal courses in the state. Opened in 1924 and designed by Tom Bendelow, it is a great hickory venue.
Many well-known golfers such as Patty Berg, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead and Babe Zaharias played Dubsdread in the ’40s and ’50s, and the course hosted the Orlando Open from 1945-47. In the final round of the inaugural Orlando Open in 1945, Ben Hogan shot a four-under-par 67 for a four-round total of 270. Hogan provided a lot of excitement for the gallery of over 5,000 on the 471-yard par five fourth hole after reaching the green in two shots and sinking a 20-footer for eagle three.
