This marks the third annual Pioneer Classic, a two-person team event on the Mill Creek Golf Course in Salado, Texas. The tournament is a fundraiser for the Salado Museum and College Park which preserves the pioneer history of the Salado area. Chief among the early settlers were the 600 Scottish families of the Robertson Colony, established in 1825. All proceeds benefit the Salado Museum.

The hickory golf event is a two-person team event with a noon tee time on Saturday, and 9 a.m on Sunday. The $150 fee includes dinner on Saturday and lunch after golf on Sunday.

Hickory clubs can be rented for $35 per player or shared with one other player.

A Friday Night Social is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 4, with food, drinks and a raffle. Saxophonist Rodney Howell is scheduled to perform for us.

So, if you are in the area, saddle up your hickories and head over the Mill Creek and join the Hickory Golf Association of Texas, and featured guest Bill Reed, a past president of the Golf Heritage Society and founder of the Hickory Golf Association of Des Moines, Iowa.
