2026 Irish Hickory Golf Challenge

Irish Hickory Golf Challenge — A Hickory Adventure on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way
“The inaugural Irish Hickory Golf Challenge is one of the most extraordinary hickory golf experiences anywhere in the world,” says its organizer Chris Hawes. “Combining world-class links golf, rich Irish heritage, and the pure joy of playing the game the old way, this event offers an unforgettable blend of competition, camaraderie, culture, and adventure. This year, we are preparing a truly international gathering of hickory golfers ready to test themselves, create and renew friendships on some of Ireland’s most beautiful courses.”
(Note: The 3-day Irish Hickory Golf Challenge comes at the end of a 14-day tour of Ireland that includes 11 rounds on Irish golf courses, including tournament rounds. For those who opt for the Irish Hickory Golf Challenge alone, the dates are Sept. 30-Oct. 2.)
A Hickory Golf Journey Like No Other- A Truly Irish Welcome
“This isn’t just a tournament — it’s an immersion,” Hawes says. “Expect hearty welcomes, local storytelling, traditional music, and that unmistakable Irish charm everywhere you go. From hotel lounges to classic pubs to windswept fairways, you’ll feel the warmth of a culture that celebrates friendship as much as competition.”
Day One- International Mix-up Scramble – A great way to meet and socialize with hickory golfers from Europe, China, Japan and Australia.
Days Two and Three: Played on BallyLiffin Old course and NorthWest Links (the St, Andrews of Ireland) – Stableford scoring.
Beyond Golf — The Ultimate Irish Experience
Participants can also enjoy optional cultural outings that capture the very soul of Ireland:
- Coastal villages along the wild Atlantic Way
- Lighthouse viewpoints and rugged cliff walks
- Sheepdog demonstrations and rural heritage experiences
- Distillery visits, live traditional music, and local food
- Storytellers, musicians, and the famed Irish hospitality
“It is the perfect blend of sport, scenery, friendship, and culture,” Hawes says. “We hope The Irish Hickory Golf Challenge will become a must-play annual event for hickory enthusiasts around the world. Players return home with lifelong memories, new friendships, extraordinary photos — and stories they’ll be telling for years.
