Join us this spring to play the Mid-American Hickory Open at the Soangetaha CC, a course that was made for hickory golf. This beautiful 1890s parkland course was revised by Tom Bendelow in the 1920s.  The course has interesting holes throughout. For those who have played in the past, note that we have shortened several tee boxes to encourage more birdies. Also, it’s notable that the membership has completed its new clubhouse, a major project with a classy outcome.

We will play pre-1935 hickory in a stroke play format Saturday and Sunday, with Open, Senior and Statesman divisions.  Practice rounds are optional on Friday the 15th. Call ahead for a Friday tee time, 309-342-5410.

We also offer a 4-Person, best shot scramble on Sunday. This 18-hole event encourages new players to play hickory and gives regular hickory players a casual, one-day event.  You can assemble your own team, or we will assist in grouping foursomes.  (We can schedule practice rounds on Saturday for players who come for the weekend but choose to “compete” only in the Sunday Scramble.)

Our Friday welcome event begins at 5:30 with cash bar, hot appetizers and trade tables provided. For dinner Saturday you are cordially invited to George & Mary Burgland’s home, just off the #1 fairway. This has become a highlight of our event. Mary will again prepare one of her renowned Italian dinners. Don’t miss it, cocktail hour begins at 5:30. On Sunday our shotgun start will bring everyone back together for lunch and awards at the clubhouse. Spouses are welcome at all events, an additional “Guest Fee” for food is listed on the registration form.

There are two very convenient options for accommodation literally just minutes from the course, at a Holiday Inn Express and a Baymont Inn.
