Vardon Challenge is new for 2025

Gregg Thompson, historian of Wisconsin’s Kenosha Country Club (home of the 2024 U.S. Hickory Open), plans to host an event he calls the “Vardon Challenge.” It’s to be a two-person best ball to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Harry Vardon’s matches on July 18-19, 1900, at the original Kenosha CC course along the shores of Lake Michigan. Vardon played 72 holes over two days against two-man teams of members and the Scottish pro Willie Still.
Partners will be assigned if you need one.

Thompson is also hosting an optional, and free, 5-hole Par 3 contest in his backyard down the street from KCC. That must be some backyard! That side event will begin at 10:30 a.m. before the Vardon Challenge, scheduled to start around 12:30 p.m.
