Tournament Information

The Open de France Hickory for 2016 has a special treat in store for players. Not only will they play for the French title at the beautiful Saint Germain G.C. on Oct. 18, but host Jean-Louis Panigel has arranged for two other rounds on historic and challenging courses.

The French Hickory Open is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 18 on the Saint Germain GC, a Harry Colt design that opened in 1922. It is on the site of the former Course Golf de l’Ermitage that existed since 1902. Bobby Jones represented the U.S. at the first French Open, played in 1927 at Saint Germain. He was defeated by George Duncan of Scotland.

“In order to give the opportunity to play other courses, and to celebrate this Franco-American venture, we’ll set two optional games,” says Jean-Louis. “Please let me know early if you choose one or two of them in order for us to make the bookings for you. And if there enough attendees, we can set two match play games on these dates.

The first is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 17 on the National Course, which has been revamped for the Ryder Cup in 2018.

The second event is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the La Boulie G.C, the site of the first trans-Atlantic match, played in 1913.
