Hickory Hike to promote kindness

Dear Hickory Golf Friends,

May 1, 2016 has been designated ‘NATIONAL HICKORY GOLF DAY‘ here in the United States.
To coincide with NATIONAL HICKORY DAY,  I’d like to introduce a new and meaningful way to show your appreciation and love for the game of hickory golf.

As some of you may know, my family suffered an immeasurable tragedy just before Christmas last year.  Our 22-year-old daughter was involved in a fatal automobile accident.

While our family will never recover from the loss we suffered, we can perhaps try to make some goodness spring forth from something so tragic.

The HICKORY HIKE-A-THON is a fundraiser to benefit The Jordan Schuman Foundation for Kindness.  The Foundation has been established to continue the legacy of goodness and kindness that Jordan was well known for.  As a recent graduate from the University of Miami, and as a TV reporter for ABC-15 News in Florence, S.C., Jordan focused a lot of her time, efforts, and news stories on folks who are somewhat less fortunate than all of us.

Money raised in this Hickory Hike event will go to the Foundation and will then be dispersed to needy children and families on a very personal one-to-one basis. The idea is to “spread kindness…one person at a time”.

To my International Hickory friends, please consider promoting National Hickory Golf Day in your country as well. With your support and collaboration in this new charitable initiative, hopefully next year will be a full blown International Hickory Golf Day, the world over. We can have Hickory players taking the ‘Hike’ in many different countries, and spreading a bit of Jordan’s kindness to all parts of the globe.

Than you for your support and consideration,
Brian Schuman
