The annual meeting of the Golf Collectors Society is scheduled for the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos of Pennsylvania. This is a big resort with truly spacious meeting rooms, luxurious bedrooms, a Donald Ross golf course, and – should you wish to bring the kids or grandkids – what looks to be a pretty cool waterpark. Check it out at Kalahari Resorts.
And there’s the National GCS Championship of course, to be played on the resort’s donald Ross-designed course. This outing features a competitive hickory division as well as a more sociable scramble for those who want to relax and just enjoy an easy round with the old sticks and good friends.
A pre-meeting Saturday, Sept. 17 outing to the USGA headquarters and museum in Far Hills, N.J., is in the works, too.
It will be a tight schedule that week, with the U.S. Hickory Open following on the heels of this meeting, but a trip to a GCS annual meeting and trade show is one that should be put on the schedule if at all possible. Hickory golfers will find plenty to like, with racks upon racks of good playable clubs and collectibles, as well as a mind-boggling array of historic golfiannia for sale and trade.
Event organizers are still completing the details, but check back here for updates and a registration form that will be posted when available.
