The Vermont Hickory Golf Association is pleased to announce that this year’s Vermont Hickory Open will be a two-day medal (stroke) play event featuring four divisions: the Open division (any age or gender), the Senior division (60 years of age or older); the Statesman division (70 years of age or older) and a Women’s division.  Both low gross and low net in each division will be acknowledged.

VENUE: Pursue your passion for hickory golf at The Golf Club at Equinox, located in beautiful Manchester Village, Vt. This scenic 1927 Walter Travis design will test a player’s ability to hit a variety of shots to well-manicured, undulating greens. Enjoy the crisp air and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains at this par 71, 6,423-yard Vermont gem of a course (6,069 for the seniors, 5,082 for the ladies).  For more on Walter Travis visit the Walter J. PRACTICE ROUNDS:  Practice rounds are not included in the registration fee; those who wish to play a practice may make arrangements directly with the pro shop At 802-362-7870.

SCHEDULE OF PLAY:  Saturday Tee times will start at 10 a.m.  There will be hors d’oeuvres served after play on Saturday.  Table space will available after play Saturday for club swap, trade, buy or sell. Play Sunday will begin with a modified shotgun start; awards and dinner will follow.

RULES OF PLAY:  The Society of Hickory Golf rules will apply. Check this website under the Tournament’s tab and look for “guidelines.”  Play must be with hickory shafted golf clubs manufactured before 1935 or Society of Hickory Golf approved reproductions. There is no limit to the number of clubs allowed in your bag.  Cell phones and/or distance measuring devices are not permitted during tournament play. Local rules will be made available before the start of play.

REGISTRATION FEE:  The registration fee is $225. The fee includes two rounds of play, hors d’oeuvres after play on Saturday, a buffet dinner on Sunday, and space for a club swap.  Practice rounds may be arranged with the club pro shop and are not included in this fee. Golf carts are included in the fee. Register Now!

NOTE:   Vermont Hickory Open space is limited; registrations will be accepted on a “first-come, first-served” basis.   A limited number of rooms within the Equinox Hotel are available at a block rate. You must reference the Vermont Hickory Open Courtesy Room Block when calling.  Reservations are to be made directly with the hotel by calling 877- 854-7625.  There is a Hampton Inn & Suites in Manchester. Because it has a wedding booked for that weekend, it can not give a block rate for us.  But currently, it still has about 20 rooms available that weekend. Call quickly.
