March 23-25, 2017
Onion Creek Club
A long-time favorite with hickory players from Texas to Canada, the Onion Creek Classic features 18 holes of match play on March 23 for the Swift Trophy. This is with teams from the U.S. vs. Canada, or East vs. West, depending on how many from the far north travel to the event.
On March 24-25 there are 36 holes of medal play with winners in the customary divisions of open, senior, statesman, and ladies, all with gross and net winners.
A Golf Collectors Society trade show will be held on March 25. Hickory clubs are available for rental. Traditional attire is recommended.
Deadline for entries is Monday, March 20. Deadline for the hotel rate is March 3.
Organizer Pete League has announced a little bit of added fun for the 2017 event. The tournament will be visited by members of the Lone Star Model A Ford club, who will bring their 1928-31 classic cars to Onion Creek Club around 2 p.m. on March 25. Should be a good photo op there, with the old cars and the players in their traditional attire.
