13-year-old Grayson Giboney wins hickory championship

   Grayson Giboney, 13, of Mill Creek, Wash., bested a field of 16 to win the Washington State Hickory Championship presented by the AP National Golf Club.

   The event was played Oct. 4 on the Home Course in DuPont, Wash. Giboney shot a 76 to won by one shot – over his dad, Brian, who shot a 77. Galen Peterson of Port Townsend took home top Senior honors with a gross score 82. Port Orchard’s Alan Pyle won the Novice Champion honors with a gross score of 78. Low net was won by Kevin McCallum of South Carolina with 72. Low net Senior was won by Dennis Scott of Auburn with 77.

   Congratulations to young Grayson, who will be featured with other young hickory players in the 2014 Autumn Wee Nip.
