Join The Society of Hickory Golfers

Mission Statement: The mission of the Society of Hickory Golfers is to promote and encourage the playing of Hickory golf.

The Society of Hickory Golfers was organized to advance the cause of hickory golf play on a worldwide basis. Its membership consists of gentlemen and ladies who enjoy competitive hickory play, and who observe the rules of the USGA and R&A. The Society's membership is reserved for those who demonstrate a love for golf, a respect for it's traditions, and a keen interest in hickory-shafted play; the Society will not extend membership to those who seek commercial gain as a result of membership.

Membership in the SoHG affords the member many benefits, among them:

  • Preferred placement for a spot in the US Hickory Open
  • A Society member bag tag
  • Subscription to the Wee Nip, the Society's magazine
  • Subscription to the Society's electronic newsletter
  • Access to the SoHG handicap system
  • Access to the Society's membership list
  • Participation in the foremost Hickory golf organization in the world with members in the US, Canada, the UK, Scandanavia and Austrailia.

1) Membership in the Society of Hickory Golfers is open to all persons who are in sympathy with the mission, aims and objectives of the Society.

2) There are three classes of membership in the SoHG:

A) Voting members: voting members must be sponsored by one SoHG voting member in good standing.
B) Non-voting members: non voting members are afforded the same privileges and rights as voting members, but require no sponsorship for membership and have no vote in SoHG elections. Non-voting members may graduate to voting members either by seeking a sponsor, or may graduate under such terms and conditions as may be decided from time to time by the board.
C) Life Membership: Life membership is reserved for individuals who have made outstanding contribusions to Hickory Golf and will be awarded only by a unanimous fote of the Board.

Membership in the SoHG is subject to approval by the Membership Committee

3) Applicants for membership in the SoHG should download the membership application return it completely filled out to the membership chairman along with a check for the appropriate fee. The SoHG membership commtiiee meets frequently and all applications will be considered at these meetings.

4) Upon approval, applicants will be informed of their membership via email or postal mail as soon as possible after membership
