Salient Points of the Proposed SoHG Constitution

Background

By the end of2006 it was obvious that the SoHG had outgrown its early beginnings, and Chuck McMullin called for change. Writing almost a year later he described it this way:

"When I sent around my memorandum late last year in advance of the Dayton gathering, I knew it was a double edged sword. On the one hand I knew that the SoHG had to change, and change forever. On the other hand I enjoyed it as it was, a group of good friends getting together for some hickory golf. I didn't want it to change. From 7 or 8 of us having a beverage at the Holiday Inn in Virginia Beach in 2000 to where we are today is proof that our initial thoughts were on the right track."
"As with any organization leadership and direction must change over time or the organization is at risk for its very existance. Thanks to the initiative and hard work of several memberss we have righted the ship, as it were, and now appear to be steadily on course again."

This constitution is part of the revamping process of the SoHG.

The final working draft of the constitution can be found as either a PDF or a Text file.
