SoHG Constitution Committee September 11, 2007 8:00 P.M. Participants: # Frank Boumphrey, Chris Deinlein, Matthew Dodds, Roger Hill, Mike Just, Alan Wallach, Barry Markowitz Regrets: # Bill Engelson, Winn Padgett Chairman, Frank Boumphrey, started the meeting by suggesting we follow an agenda previously posted and all agreed. E-mail correspondence from Peter Georgiady dated 9/11/2007 and Paul Deitz dated 9/11/2007 were acknowledged. All the following agenda items relate to the Composite Model II Constitution as discussed at the 9/4/2007 meeting. # Name - After a brief discussion, all agreed that the name of the organization to be referenced in the new constitution would be 'The Society of Hickory Golfers'. # Mission Statement - A short discussion followed regarding certain revisions to the Mission Statement after which the Chair asked Matt Dobbs to prepare revised language for consideration and action at our next meeting. # Aims and Objectives - A very lively, animated yet courteous discussion ensued with respect to certain subsections under Aims and Objectives, particularly iii, v and vi. After receiving input from all committee members and considering other outside views, expressed either in writing or verbally to members of the committee, the Chair asked Barry Markowitz to prepare revised language for consideration and action at our next meeting. # Membership - Following a discussion, focusing particularly on classes of membership, the Chair asked Roger Hill to prepare revised language for consideration and action at our next meeting. # Board - The committee undertook a discussion of qualifications for board members considering geographical location, membership make-up and potential growth of the organization and well as the number of board members to be required. A straw vote indicated that 9 board members seemed to be acceptable. Matt Dobbs and Barry Markowitz were asked to prepare revised language for consideration and action at our next meeting.
